What does an accident look like?

Experiencing a car accident can be likened to an abrupt descent into an overwhelming void, where time appears to slow, and one’s senses become acutely intensified by fear and uncertainty. The jarring sounds of twisting metal, the shattering of glass, and the profound silence that ensues compose a disordered and harrowing atmosphere, leaving individuals momentarily engulfed in shock and apprehension. It is a profoundly impactful experience that resonates deeply, often reminding one of the inherent fragility of life.

What should I do after a car accident?

If you are involved in a car accident, here are some steps you should take:

  1. Check for injuries: First, assess yourself and others for any injuries and seek medical attention if needed.

  2. Call emergency services: Immediately contact the police and/or medical services to report the accident and ensure help arrives at the scene.

Try to have an accident report made by the police department and obtain the report number from the officer. They generally put this information on a card.

  3. Exchange information: Exchange contact and insurance information with the other driver(s) involved in the accident. Be sure to get their insurance information and don’t forget to take photos of their car. Insurance information and photos will not be provided to you after the accident without expensive litigation. This is your chance to get insurance information and pictures to help your claim.

  4. Document the scene: Take photos of the accident scene, damage to vehicles, and any relevant details that may help with insurance claims or legal matters. Yes, again, including the other vehicle, not just yours.

  5. Notify your insurance company: Inform your insurance company about the accident as soon as possible to start the claims process. Note your claim number and adjuster for your attorney. DO NOT contact the other parties insurance. Your attorney will do this for you. Doing so can seriously affect your claim and definitely not in a good way. See the FAQ’s to find out more about this.

Remember to stay calm and cooperate with authorities while ensuring your safety and well-being after a car accident.

Injury & Pain

The aftermath of an automobile accident brings forth a tapestry of physical agony and emotional turmoil. Each twinge of pain echoes with the memory of the collision, a reminder of the fragility of the human body. The wounds, both seen and unseen, carry a weight of suffering that can transcend the physical realm and with a profound sense of vulnerability and trauma.

What should I do next?

After an automobile accident, finding proper medical treatment is crucial. Here are steps to follow in this area:

  1. Assess your injuries, where does it hurt? Discuss with your attorney what options you have available for treatment. Often times your attorney can help you to get medical treatment on a lien, which means that you don’t pay anything until your case is resolved.

  2. Follow medical advice: Cooperate with healthcare professionals, follow their recommendations for treatment, and attend all follow-up appointments.

  3. Document injuries: Keep records of medical assessments, treatments received, and any ongoing symptoms for insurance claims and legal purposes.

Keeping a journal can be helpful for your claim but also for you to keep things straight in your own mind.

Liens

Finding a Lien: Attorneys can help identify healthcare providers who are willing to work on a lien basis. This means that the medical provider agrees to defer payment until the conclusion of the case. This can be beneficial for individuals who may not have health insurance or the financial means to pay for medical treatment upfront.

Connecting with Top Doctors: Experienced personal injury attorneys often have established relationships with reputable healthcare professionals in the local area. They can refer you to specialists who have a track record of treating specific types of injuries commonly associated with personal injury cases. This ensures that you receive high-quality medical care tailored to your needs.

With each treatment with your healthcare provider, you can find solace in knowing that you are not alone in your journey to reclaim wholeness and resilience. Lorraine Gingery, as your attorney, will work with your medical providers to ensure that you get the care that you need during this difficult time.
